Claremont Summer Program

Summer camp at Claremont Prep offers a varied range of activities and special events to provide campers with an ideal summer experience. Our primary program, Camp Claremont, is open to children 3 years old through entering 3rd grade. We also offer exciting week-long specialty programs for older students (entering 4th-8th grades). All of Claremont's summer programs are available to children who do not attend Claremont during the school year.

CAMP CLAREMONT (3 years old – entering 3rd grade) Children at Camp Claremont are divided into small groups based upon age. Each group is overseen by a Head Counselor and one or two Assistant Counselors for 10-15 children. All Head Counselors are education professionals who have much experience in the social and emotional growth of children. All staff are hired for their enthusiasm, high energy level, and proven dedication to working with children.

Welcome to Camp Claremont! Each day consists of a schedule of various activities such as daily swim lessons by certified Red Cross lifeguards, outdoor time on our magnificent rooftop playground, visual arts, performing arts, sports, karate, yoga, cooking, and much more. Children will have opportunities to experience all activities offered at camp. In addition, special events, performances by outside entertainers, and occasional trips out of the building to nearby attractions help make the summer unforgettable for our campers! We will use all of the Claremont Preparatory School facilities such as our 25 meter pool, gymnasium, amazing rooftop play structure, art studios, science lab, and Cafe. Peanut-free lunch and snack will be provided daily by our outstanding culinary school trained chefs.

Camp Claremont runs from 8:30 am – 3:30 pm each day for 4 year olds through 3rd graders. For 3 year olds, the day concludes at 1 pm and includes lunch. Half-day campers will swim twice per week. Camp will run from June 21 – July 30, 2010, and campers are welcome to attend for as few as two and as many as six weeks. Dates and fees are available on our Camp Enrollment Form (PDF). Sibling discounts are offered, as is an early enrollment discount until March 15. Registration is now open!

Please contact Steve Levin, Camp Director at 212.232.0266, ext 254 or slevin@claremontprep.org for more information.

CLAREMONT SUMMER ACADEMIES (entering 4th-8th grade)

Claremont also offers exciting one-week “academies” that provide older children the opportunity to focus on a specialized area of interest through dynamic week-long programs. For the summer of 2009, we introduced three such programs: Music Camp, Fine Arts Workshop, and Cooking Academy. All three will return for 2010, and we may offer new programs as well including Film Camp and Voice & Performance Intensive. These exciting programs will be overseen by outstanding Claremont Prep faculty and staffed by outside professionals as needed to best suit our campers. Campers will spend the week engaged in high-level instruction in their interest area. They will also go on excursions and enjoy workshops by experts in the fields of interest to help expand their learning and enhance their enjoyment of the subject area. Each week will conclude with an event for family and friends to highlight the work done by children during the week: A lunch for the Cooking Academy, a concert for Music Camp and Voice & Performance Intensive, and a gallery-style exhibition for Fine Arts Workshop. Session dates and fees for our week-long programs are available on our Summer Academies Enrollment Form (PDF).
