TUESDAYS (DOUBLE Session Classes)

GILSPORTS (OFF SITE PROGRAM) (PreK-4th) Must go to gilsports.com for info and to register

Gilsports is a unique program that offers children from grades Kindergarten - 5th the opportunity to learn & improve in a fun filled environment  We offer baseball, basketball, & ice skating seasonally; Gilsports includes school to home transportation.

 

 TENNIS at CITY VIEW RACQUET CLUB (K-6th) Must go to cityviewracquet.com for info and to register.

Space is very limited! Students will be picked up afterschool and transported to City View (in LongIsland City) for their 90 minutes lesson. They will then be returned home by City View. Call Joe or Kirk at 718.389.6252 for more information.

 

MECHINA with JCP (K-1st) Full Year; DOUBLE SESSION: THIS CLASS WILL RUN FROM 3:15 until 5:00pm.

GAMES FOR FITNESS (PreK-1st)                                     Zdenko "Goach Z" Slobodnick

In this physical based class the focus is having as much fun as possible while still learning the fundamentals of an active lifestyle. The class will include an array of games, relay races, and obstacle courses, all with the intention of being physically active for an dextended period of time without ever being dull and repetitive. Kids are encouraged to bring in their own favorite games for suggestions throughout the semester. Let's play.

CRAFTY CORNER (PreK-1st                                           Devin Febbroriello

Fun filled projects to help introduce little ones to the joys of arts & crafts.  This class will use a mixture of paint, collage, sculpture and drawing with an emphasis on the creation of useful & decorative art.

 

LEARN THE VIOLIN (PreK-1st)                                         Luke Fleming

Students will learn to play the violin in a small group with individualized attention. Children will learn through listening, playing, reflecting, & practicing. Students need to provide their own violins.

 

 

DRESS UP ADVENTURES! (PreK-1st)                                 Cake Improv

Everyone loves to pretend! Rummage through a trunk of costumes and props to come up with your own unique character.  With the help of the instructor, students create an original mystery or story each week. A museum that comes alive, a forest full of mischievous animals, the mer-people of Atlantis - the possibilities are limitless!

 

GUITAR BASICS (K-2nd)                                                      Simon Jermyn

Students are invited to learn the ins-and-outs, ups-and-downs, and every-which-ways about the guitar.  Students will learn basic chords, scales & picking techniques.  Families are encouraged to purchase acoustic guitars for their children so that they can practice at home.

COOKING CLUB (1st-4th)                                                     Claremont Café Chefs

Students will learn basic cooking methods & techniques while learning to create recipes on their own. We will explore international foods, such as those from Japan, Italy, Mexico, & India, through both sweet & savory seasonal recipes. Students can take home a collection of all the recipes in their very own cookbook at the end.

 

THE MYSTERY OF MAGIC (1st-4th)                                   Rory Wheeler

Be part of the mystical & exciting world of magic. Every week we will introduce the apprentice magicians to a few different tricks.  They will be able to impress friends & family with various card tricks, disappearing coins, sleight of hand & more.  We supply the materials & expertise, children bring their enthusiasm.

This mixed media art class will consist of multiple mediums & learning how to mix them to create multi-faceted artwork. This class is going to be a hodgepodge of working methods & experiences.  Creativity will rule the day!

LOOK MOM… I’M ON TV! (2nd-4th)                                  Cake Improv

In this improv class students create their own original characters and mock TV episodes from American Idol, game shows, adventure cartoons, cook-offs, and even infomercials. It’s an afternoon of fun - without commercial breaks.
