Judith Sheridan comes to Claremont Preparatory School having held the position of Associate Director of the Putney School in Vermont for six years where she was responsible for guiding the educational program and for faculty development and hiring. Prior to that Judy was the High School Director of the Dalton School in Manhattan for ten years and before that English Department Chair and faculty member.
As High School Director she was responsible for all the activities of the High School, including the academic program, curriculum content, faculty staffing and development and student advising and activities. She has had experience in strategic and facility planning and has supervised college counseling and libraries. In addition she has held school-wide responsibilities in the supervision of educational technology and diversity.
Recently Judy co-facilitated the NAIS Institute for Leadership in Sustainability. She has presented on subjects ranging from Strategic Planning for Sustainability to Using Multimedia Technology in the classroom at national conferences. She has published articles on both literary and educational subjects. Judy has been the Director of Columbia University?s School and Child Care Search Service, an office that provides guidance to Columbia faculty and staff in exploring educational options for their children. She has taught in both high school and college and holds a Ph.D. in English Literature from SUNY-Binghamton.
Judy is a native New Yorker, married and has two grown children.
