Claremont Prep promotes healthy eating through the Go, Slow, Whoa Program*. This program is designed to help children develop the skills they need to identify foods that they should eat daily and foods that they should cut back on. Foods are placed into categories based on their nutrient content (calories, fat, sodium, fiber, etc.) GO Foods are foods that can be eaten everyday and are designated with a green traffic light. SLOW foods are foods that you should eat sometimes (every other day) and are designated with a yellow traffic light. WHOA foods are foods that you should eat once in a while (once a week or every other week) and are designated with a red traffic light. These lights are placed next to each food item served in the café to help encourage children to balance their WHOA food choices with GO food choices.
* This program was adapted from a program designed by the Department of Health & Human Services – National Institute of Health
