The focus of the Middle School Foreign Language program is have our students feel comfortable with listening, speaking, reading and writing the language of their study as well as developing an appreciation of other cultures. At each level, teachers integrate historical and cultural materials to expand and enrich their language learning.
In Fifth Grade, all students are required to take Mandarin Chinese. In the Sixth Grade, incoming students are required to take Mandarin Chinese. Continuing Sixth, Seventh, and Eight graders can continue studying Mandarin or choose to study French or Spanish. Our expectation is for our Middle School students to comfortably enter an advanced level class in high school.
